The Shadow, daily colour English newspaper is an offshoot of the big business Empire of Dr Roop Lal Sharma, running under Shri Sain Charitable Trust for Higher Education and Research, Nardani Bantalab Jammu.
The trust has been nurtured by Dr Roop Lal Sharma over the years with great sincerity and dedication serving the nation through its various offshoots. The Trust has around eight degree colleges within a single complex spread over hundreds of acres of land with abundance of nature surrounding it.
The trust also runs the first and exclusive Ayurvedic College
of the state under the name and style Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research. Apart from this the group has degree colleges for general and specialized fields like Law, Computers, B.Ed, Paramedical, Nursing and Physiotherapy and general Degree course besides an Elementary Teachers Training College (ETT) imparting education upto Post Graduate level.
The Group of colleges is soon being approved as the first private Deemed University
of the state besides being accredited to NAAC and ISO certified colleges.
The group has also the first of its kind export oriented Ayurvedic medicines manufacturing unit in Jammu
besides a full-fledged hospital
of Physiotherapy in Janipur area of the Jammu
district.

The Shadow Newspaper is a dream project of Dr Roop Lal Sharma with a mission to define new trends in journalism in the state which is evident from the fact that within a short span of time the newspaper has carved a niche for itself and grabbed a marginal market share of the newspaper industry in Jammu. The Newspaper was launched on May 1, 2006 coinciding with the Labour Day depicting the concern of the Chairman Dr Roop Lal Sharma for the working class. Er. Ravish Sharma the young and energetic son of Dr Roop Lal Sharma is discharging the duties of the Editor of The Shadow and also happens to be the printer and publisher of the newspaper. The newspaper has highly qualified and experienced journalistic staff headed by the prominent journalist of the state Mr King C Bharati who is the Executive Editor of the newspaper and looks after the overall editorial and administrative duties of the newspaper.
The Shadow group has a unique distinction of innovative planning and implementation of various new trends in newspaper business headed by Dr Roop Lal Sharma and Ravish Sharma with King C Bharati playing a vital role in the growth of the newspaper in Jammu and Kashmir.
The newspaper is widely read and appreciated by all classes in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides some parts of New Delhi.
The Shadow Group as we call it is involved in intellectual business in real sense as the group has been dealing with highly educated people of the society through various Degree Colleges, Law College, Computer Sciences, Ayurvedic research and above all Journalism.
